Looking back on the Queen's Coronation in 1953 I can remember very little, probably not very surprising as I was only 4 yrs old. I do remember watching the ceremony on television at our next door neighbours (The Hendersons)- the first time I had ever seen TV!

My family were then living in Church Road, Rayleigh and we all took part in a "street party" that was held in Caley Hall.

I can recognise a few people in the photos and know the names of a lot more who should be in them.

In the front row of the group photo, from left to right, there is Jennifer Blake, Ann and Roger Courchee, Michael Smith, me and Leslie Putley. On the left in the first row sitting on chairs are June, Janet and Lilian Henderson. My sister, Marilyn, is standing near the back in the middle.

Other families would be the Newmans, Petcheys, Putleys, Cokers, Smiths, Marshalls, Ellis, Barhams, Rennesons and many more.

Please let us know if you recognise anyone or if you know when it was held. How about another party?
